Staple Cutter Blades

Why Staple Cutter Blades Matter

Staple fiber quality depends on consistent cut length and clean fiber ends. Dull or improperly configured blades create length variations, frayed fiber ends, and uncut fibers that contaminate the staple product. Blade wear accelerates quickly when processing abrasive fiber types or high-denier tow, forcing frequent blade changes that reduce cutter productivity.

Lutz staple cutter blades are manufactured to tight tolerances with optimized edge geometry to cut every fiber to the same length without fraying. We offer various coatings including TiN, TiC, TiAlN, ZrN, DLC (diamond-like coating), and Teflon (PTFE) to extend blade life and reduce friction during cutting. Tungsten carbide blades maintain sharp cutting edges far longer than tool steel alternatives, and we provide re-sharpening services for carbide blades to further extend their productive life. Extended blade life and proper coating selection reduce changeover frequency and maintain consistent staple quality across production runs.
